Scented Pillar Candles Brighten The Senses

Posted by lameady on August 31, 2010

Scented pillar candles bring sensuous delight to everyday and special occasions. Beautiful to behold, they also gratify the sense of smell with a variety of scents ranging from the cozy home baking smell of spicy gingerbread to the lounge-by-the pool aromas of mango and coconut. Pillar candles come in a variety of sizes.  Some are short and squat and add ambiance without taking up much space.  Others stand tall and proud as more noticeable decorating statements.  Although the traditional pillar is a simple column, variations let the decorator choose the candles that make the perfect statement.  Many varieties of pillar are available unscented.  However, bringing in the scented element is a bonus for decorating enthusiasts.  Today many of us know about the subtle elements that combine to set the stage for the results desired.  So when choosing pillar candles, why not take the extra second to pick out scented ones.

Scented pillar candles are an ally in aromatherapy, which uses scents to soothe moods and emotions or to help cure minor health problems such as sinus or congestion. Candles with eucalyptus, for example, can help stuffy noses unclog.  Using scented pillar candles softens the atmosphere with gentle light as well as healing aromas.

Everything seems more romantic by candle light.  Rose oil, lavender and musk are oils used in candles that help bring a romantic atmosphere to the room, whether it is in the bedroom or at a wedding reception in a public hall.  Orange blossom is a natural for weddings. The sense of intimacy that candlelight brings combines with slowly wafting scents to bring people closer to the right mood for the occasion.

In daily life, think of how uplifting candles can be that infuse a room with cinnamon, cappuccino or cucumber!  Grapefruit and bergamot can also perk up the dullest day.  If you are stuck inside with the cold weather blues, why not comfort yourself with candles scented with pine or sandalwood. Scented pillar candles do the job.

The solidity of the pillar shape makes these candles a safer choice than tapers since they can rest on simple flat holders atop the table.  However, stable does not mean stodgy!  Today’s pillar candles are available in many varieties.  Fluted sides add extra interest, for example.  Surfaces come in smooth or mottled, in solid colors, stripes, rainbow, and other decorative styles.  Pillars of different heights allow for many more possibilities.  A group of three candles, short, medium, and tall, at the center of a table, surrounded by a wreath of leaves, makes an eye-catching centerpiece.  Add the scented element and you can sway your guests toward a relaxing or scintillating evening, whatever is your particular entertaining goal.

Scented pillar candles have the advantage of longer life.  Indeed, they are available in extended life varieties that give many extra hours of beauty, healing and inspiration.  Whether your goal is to create a little drama at the dining table, soothe away your troubles in the bath, or share a festive occasion with family and friends, scented pillar candles will bring you the atmosphere you want every time.

Scented pillar candles are becoming more popular with each passing year. To get the full story, please visit www.prometheancandle.com where you can find many candle products including soy, paraffin and palm wax candles for regular use and as well as use in aromatherapy.

La Dolce Vita [VHS] [UK Import]

Posted by lameady on August 30, 2010

–Dave McCoy La Dolce Vita [VHS] [UK Import]

Cultural Tours Within South Africa

Posted by lameady on August 28, 2010

South Africa is an incredible holiday destination, with many cultural highlights and natural wonders to explore, you can experience the best South Africa has to offer. In South Africa you’ll find the world’s oldest fossils, and the world’s newest democracy.

Referred to as the ‘Rainbow Nation’, South Africa has a population of 45 million people, with not one single culture but several, making the most culturally diverse country in the world. Visitors have the opportunity to experience South African culture via the many Cultural tours on offer.

South Africa is the most democratic country on the African continent; this is a country where you can share in on the historical and political memories the people. Visit the famous Apartheid museum or the world heritage site of Robben Island; home to political mover Nelson Mandela during his incarceration, upon his release in 1990, Nelson Mandela was elected South Africa’s first black president.

For a rare cultural gem visit is the city of Cape Town, this is a city of culture built on a history that reflects the architecture, cuisine, music and dance. In the Western Cape you will find indigenous Fynbos which forms part of the Cape Floral region, pristine white beaches and the memorable landmark of Table mountain; providing an amazing backdrop of Cape Towns city center. Here many of the world’s scenic wonders are with a days drive away from the city center.

For a cultural outing visit the many art galleries and museums or visit a natural rock painting mural, experience the authentic African artifacts by browsing the array of flea markets, or stroll along Kalk Bay main road and browse through the numerous antique stores. Visitors can travel to the rural areas where you can witness tribal culture and living. Township tours are a must, a unique and emotional experience, walk along the streets and witness the locals surviving on a daily basis, with daily struggles, hopes and dreams. After that is done stop off at the local Shebeen and enjoy a refreshing beer.

A lot is to be said about the South African cuisine; traditionally it is as diverse as the cultures surrounding it. Indulge in a seafood platter whilst watching the whale spectacle in the Hermanus Bay, have a hot summers day Boerewors Braai or go down to Durban and experience the hot BunnyChow.

Nifty Wall Stickers Make Nursery Decorating a Breeze

Posted by lameady on August 23, 2010

New moms and dads looking for inexpensive wall decor for the baby nursery should consider wall stickers as a design option. Decals give you the effect of a mural without being permanent and the expense of hiring a professional painter. Removable stickers are perfect for parents who love the idea of not being stuck with a long-term commitment to a particular room theme, or for renters who can quickly zip them off when they move without any harm to walls.

Wall stickers come in two varieties: repositionable vinyl or pre-pasted paper. The advantages of vinyl over paper is that they are far easier to remove when you are ready to take them down, and they can be moved and used again at least once. Plus, they offer more flexibility as to where they can be placed aside from just vertical walls – such as windows, doors, mirrors, ceilings, metal or any smooth surface. Pre-pasted stickers work very much like standard wallpaper and need to be wet before hanging so that the backer glue is activated. Removal can require a stripper and some scraping which can potentially damage walls if the sticker has been in place for a long time.`

Look for a sticker made with a high-grade quality vinyl that is UV resistant so it can stand up to years of hanging in a bright, sun-filled room without fading. Washable vinyl makes it super easy to wipe them down with a damp cloth should grubby fingers get them dirty, too.

Large stickers provide more splash and impact than smaller ones and look great on an expansive wall. Little stickers can look a tad cluttered if not used sparingly, and will look best if grouped together or in an accent spot.

Wall stickers come in a huge variety of designs that will coordinate with any nursery theme you can dream up for your baby – everything from simple dots, a colorful circus carnival, or an elaborate castle scheme fit for any budding princess. You’ll find options with single color vinyl for a more subtle appearance, or a rainbow of shades with lots of detail. Some manufacturers can even personalize a sticker with a photo you provide.

There really is no limit to the options that exist for room design with vinyl decals; and the convenience of simply putting them on your walls in just a few minutes without using glue or nails offers great convenience as a reasonable price point. Best of all, when you tire of the design you simply strip it off without any mess or fuss.

Ultimate Wall Sticker Decor

Posted by lameady on August 22, 2010

Wall sticker decor is the hottest new trend in decorating everything from living rooms to children’s bedrooms, with an enormous variety of shapes, sizes, and colors now available. Choosing which type of wall sticker or decal to use on which wall of your home might be harder than you think. Luckily, most wall sticker decor can be broken down and separated into the following categories:

Vinyl Decals – Vinyl Wall Decals are popular because they are both removable and repositionable. Since there is no glue involved, vinyl stickers will not leave marks on your walls. This type of wall sticker decor comes in small individual sticker sizes and larger murals that must be pieced together almost like a puzzle. Places like the Wall Sticker Outlet carry hundreds of types of vinyl wall decals in every theme and color of the rainbow.

Wall Appliques – Peel and Stick wall appliques usually come as several pieces on larger sheets. They’re designed to stick to any smooth, dry surface, and therefore can be used on home furnishings, accessories, cabinets – the possibilities are endless. Appliques are smaller in size, safe, and completely removable/repositionable. Even better, the surface of wall appliques can be washed with a sponge and some mild detergent, making them the most flexible type of wall sticker decor there is.

Wall Murals – These type of wall stickers are designed to form a scene or theme, and go especially well in kids bedrooms. Bright and beautiful arrangements can be created with a minimum of effort, and you can easily create custom murals of your own simply by purchasing individual wall cutouts. Wall murals are usually pre-pasted and go on with a damp sponge or paper towel and a little bit of water. The dramatic effect the right wall mural can have on a room is tremendous.

Wall Transfers – Rub-on wall transfer stickers are easy to use – simply peel back the protective coating and apply them to your walls using the included applicator stick. While they cannot be moved or repositioned, transfers can often convey the look and texture of expensive hand-painted artwork done by professional artists. They are printed on high-resolution paper, so detailed that you can actually see the brushstrokes of the original artisan’s design.

Paper Cutouts – Cutout wall stickers and decals are great little additions to lamps, tables, picture frames, vases… stick them anywhere you want them to go. These die-cut pieces are usually pre-pasted and smooth on with a little bit of water. Paper cutouts come in unlimited colors and styles, making them a versatile type of wall sticker decor used to accent larger wall murals or stand as individual pieces.

Dry-Erase and Chalkboard Surfaces – Great for home, office, or student dorm rooms, chalkboard and dry-erase wall stickers can be applied to any smooth surface. A fantastic idea for shopping lists or notes to family members, the surface of these wall decals can be written on with chalk or a dry erase marker, and then later wiped clean with a soft cloth. Many chalkboard and dry-erase types of wall sticker decor are both removable and repositionable, making them a perfect temporary solution or permanent fixture – whichever you require.

So remember – there’s no more excuse for plain old boring walls! Wall sticker decor has evolved to new heights of convenience and creativity. Whether you’re creating your own unique life-sized wall mural or applying a high quality pre-printed transfer, choose the decal that’s right for you. Be brave, be bold, and above everything else, have fun!

Be sure to visit the Wall Sticker Outlet for hundreds upon hundreds of wall stickers and decals by Wallies, Wallcandy Arts, Dottilicous, and more! Decorating Ideas For Girls Bedrooms – 5 Age Groups – 5 Ideas

Posted by lameady on August 19, 2010

Girls Girls Girls. What would we do without them? Below we are going to look at 5 different age ranges and come up with some ideas for each age range that can be good for a few years. Little bitty girls just have to deal with what we give them, but let them start to grow and have their own agenda and it includes the decorating of their bedrooms. Decorating ideas for girls bedrooms range from the simplest to the most complex. It all depends on the age of your daughter. when they are born on up to 3 or 4 they are not hard to please but that all starts to change as they age a little. I think it is called getting a mind of your own. Below we are going to discuss 5 age ranges and 5 ideas that could possibly get you through until they go off to college.

1. Newborn to three this is probably the easiest and most enjoyable one you will ever do.

My suggestion would to use a poke-a-dot theme. Example..paint the wall a soft green and then paint dots on it in colors like pink, yellow or blue.

2. Four to Six Flower theme. This is and easy one because if you plan ahead and place the poke-a-dots in the right places for your newborn you can now use the poke-a-dots for the center for large flowers. Large flowers or small ones make a very pretty wall for 4-6 year age group.

3. Seven To Ten Paint the room a color of your little girls choice and use a rainbow theme. You can paint the rainbow yourself because the lines do not have to be perfect. This too makes a very delightful room for your little girl.

4. Eleven To Thirteen At 11 to 13 your little girl is not little anymore and has a mind of her own. Let her pick out what color she wants her walls and then let her choose wall words to create the theme she is going for. there is no doubt that by now she has a hero or is a fan of some TV personality.

5. Fourteen To Eighteen Use a Rock star theme for your teen. This will be sure to be a hit. Let them pick the rock star. They even make Kids murals for several rock stars that you could use or paint the bedroom and then add posters, wall words and pictures. Your teen will love you and hate to leave for college.

Well that 18 years has passed by way to quick. These are decorating ideas for girls bedrooms and every stage in your daughters life will be an adventure for you and her. Hold your children close and never let one moment of their lives pass you by. I love to decorate but I love the little children more. Children are a joy and no matter what kind of bedrooms they have they will love you always. Decorate your home and your daughters bedrooms to bring you all the joy you can from the home you share. Decorate it your way because “Your Story Begins at home.”

I love decorating with a passion and I love the bold and unusual. I especially like to decorate kids rooms. Kids are a joy because they love pretty much everything. If you would like a free decorating ebook please visit Dime decorating and let me know where to send it. For now Remember
“Your Story Begins at Home”

Party Decorations are a Celebration Must Have

Posted by lameady on August 17, 2010

Every party needs lots of good party decorations so that the party area looks and feels like its chosen party theme. You’ll find that there are lots of party decorations for your party theme, no matter what kind of party theme you’ve chosen to have at your celebration. Party themes are easily interchangeable with different kinds of celebrations so that means that there are literally thousands of different kinds of party decorations out there for you to use for your chosen party theme.

Some of the different kinds of party decorations are: door curtains, dangles, tablecloths, paper goods, inflatables, centerpieces, loot bags, scene setters, and wall murals. An autumn party theme would make full use of these different kinds of party decorations. Perhaps there would be a fall foliage scene setter mural; the centerpiece on the buffet table would host an expandable honeycomb turkey and pumpkins, while there would be metallic orange and red dangles hanging from the ceiling. A paper fall themed tablecloth is a must since there’s definitely a danger of food spillage.

You’ll see that it’s easy to plan out your party and pick out the party decorations for it once you get started on your project. A good seventies disco party can have lots of beaded door curtains in all of the party entryways. Guests will get a kick out of walking through them as if the were walking in to the past. Bright multicolored dangles hanging from the ceiling will proudly declare the number seventy on them, while the guests get food off a buffet table covered with a rainbow tablecloth and strewn with multicolored beads.

Even inflatables once you get them blown up provide fun relief to the party atmosphere. There’s a large five foot turkey tom for thanksgiving and for those birthday parties you can blow up a large birthday cake inflatable.

Mrs. Party… Gail Leino is the internet’s leading authority on selecting the best possible party supplies (http://partysupplieshut.com), using proper etiquette, and living a healthy life while also teaching organizational skills and fun facts. The Party Supplies Hut has lots of party ideas with hundreds of free coloring sheets, printable games, and free birthday party activities. Over 100 adorable Party Themes (PartyThemeShop.com) to fit your birthday celebration, holiday event, or “just because” parties is at the Party Theme Shop. Party themes include cartoon characters, sports, movie, TV shows, luau, western, holidays, and unique crazy fun theme ideas.
